On the basis of the previous work, China Telecom has carefully studied the deployment and adjusted the 5G construction plan. On March 10, China Telecom and China Unicom released the “2020 5G SA New Construction Wireless Main Equipment Joint Centralized Procurement Project Centralized Prequalification Announcement”, launching the 5G SA wireless main equipment joint centralized procurement, with an estimated procurement scale of no less than 250,000 stand. On March 12, China Telecom launched the centralized procurement of main equipment for the new construction of the 5G core network in 2020 to meet the needs of 31 provinces and cities. At the same time, China Telecom held a national 5G phase II project construction task deployment meeting. It plans to complete the national construction of 250,000 5G base stations in the third quarter, and strive to be the first to realize the commercial use of 5G SA.
In Zhejiang, Zhejiang company actively promotes the construction of 5G base stations. In the first half of the year, 22,000 5G base stations will be built. According to the overall deployment of China Telecom and China Unicom, in the first half of 2020, the two parties will plan to build and share 16,000 5G base stations in Zhejiang. 5G signals are fully covered by cities above the county level and key towns and towns in the province. In Shanghai, the first phase of the Shanghai company’s 5G construction project officially resumed work on February 21, with a total investment of 1.51 billion yuan. China Telecom also stated that 2020 is a critical year for the commercial deployment of 5G SA. China Telecom has fully launched the network upgrade for SA independent networking to promote SA commercialization. On February 27, China Telecom took the lead in the industry to complete the whole system performance verification of 5G SA core network commercial equipment, and completed the 5G end-to-end system function and interoperability test of different manufacturers, which promoted the 5G SA equipment in function, performance and multi-vendor group. The network has commercial capabilities, laying a solid foundation for the large-scale deployment of 5G SA. In the next step, China Telecom will work with the industry to continue to carry out verification tests of R16 enhancements, equipment reliability, maintenance management functions, and billing enhancements, which are necessary for the commercial deployment of 5G SA, to promote industrial development.
