The MAX98396 is the latest addition to Maxim’s Class D/G amplifier product line to meet the lowest power, lowest noise, and highest thermal efficiency requirements for battery-powered Bluetooth, always-on smart speakers, and other devices. Industry-leading power efficiency makes it possible to drive speakers to higher power and longer operating hours before thermal protection is reached. In addition, the MAX98396 supports ultrasound-ready detection with 45kHz bandwidth and a dedicated datapath. Combined with artificial intelligence (AI) and ultrasound capabilities, this feature supports contactless gesture detection, presence detection, and proximity detection.
Ultra-low power consumption: The MAX98396 consumes only 12.7 mW of quiescent power when powered from a 12V supply Vdd (PVDD), a nearly 5x reduction compared to similar amplifiers. The low quiescent current meets, or even exceeds, industry requirements for always-on speaker standby power consumption.
Lowest noise floor: The MAX98396’s ultra-low noise floor of 15.5 uVrms is 50% lower than the nearest competitor, allowing speakers to be placed in near-silent conditions.
Ultrasound ready: The MAX98396 provides up to 192 kHz sampling rate upgrade and an ultrasound signal bypass path, preventing the audio processing channel from attenuating the ultrasound signal.
